Don’t Break What Works Campaign Issues Statement on EU’s
$2 Billion Fine Against Apple

Washington, D.C. (3/4/2024) – Today, the Don’t Break What Works campaign issued the following statement regarding the announcement that the European Union (EU) has fined US-based Apple for alleged anti-competitive behavior.

“Curiously, Apple is now subject to one of the larger fines that the EU has ever imposed, all while a singular, EU-based competitor enjoys a significantly larger share of the particular market at hand. While the EU has been consistent in pursuing policies that advantage EU-based companies, the Biden Administration has done little to push back and defend the interests of American companies,” said Chandler Smith Costello, a spokeswoman for the Don’t Break What Works campaign. “This approach remains confusing, particularly considering that American companies like Apple are a significant driver of American innovation and economic power – and their products also happen to be really popular with consumers.”
