Washington, D.C. 3/7/2024 – The “Don’t Break What Works” campaign released this statement following President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address:
“This evening’s State of the Union speech provided President Biden an opportunity to highlight the work his administration has done to help create jobs and foster a growing economy. We also heard the president outline his vision for further bolstering the strength of our economy and our nation’s security in the months to come.
“While there are significant gains the President has rightly been able to point out, some of his top officials have continued to push an agenda that jeopardizes a competitive marketplace, seeking in some cases to target some of our country’s most innovative companies to the benefit of their competitors. This pursuit of a particular ideology, in practice, threatens higher costs for Americans and negatively impacts consumers.
“At the same time, the Biden Administration has missed opportunity after opportunity to push back when foreign entities and governments have pursued regulations that single out and discriminate against U.S. companies.
“As the President looks to all that he plans to accomplish in the coming year, we encourage the Biden Administration to pursue effective policies that encourage competition, support innovation, and allow America to continue to lead on the global stage,” said Chandler Smith Costello, a spokeswoman for the Don’t Break What Works campaign.
