Don’t Break What Works Campaign Releases Statement on the Introduction of the App Store Freedom Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. (05/06/2025) – The Don’t Break What Works campaign released the following statement regarding the introduction of the App Store Freedom Act:

“This deeply flawed bill ignores the reality of the current app ecosystem that benefits small app developers and consumers, and attempts to fix a problem that does not exist. The so-called App Store Freedom Act puts Americans’ sensitive data in jeopardy and risks harming consumers who love their smartphones by limiting app stores’ ability to protect their users from dangerous apps and other security risks,” said Don’t Break What Works spokeswoman Kate Brown. “The approach inherent to this legislation seeks to break products that American consumers love and services that support small app developers, all while benefiting a few large businesses.”
