Washington, D.C. (6/11/2026) – The Don’t Break What Works campaign released the following statement regarding the reintroduction of the deeply flawed American Innovation and Choice Online Act (AICOA):
“AICOA will break the digital products and services that Americans rely on every day – from free Google services to Amazon’s two-day shipping – and Congress must reject it before it does serious damage to consumers and the broader American economy,” said Don’t Break What Works spokesman Katey McCutcheon. “This legislation is modeled on Europe’s Digital Markets Act, importing the same flawed regulatory ideology that has already hurt European consumers and businesses. Despite well-documented concerns from both sides of the aisle, a small group of senators has chosen to reintroduce a deeply flawed bill that does not resolve the issues that prevented it from advancing in the past.”
“AICOA’s harm does not stop with everyday consumers. Small businesses that depend on the very platforms this bill targets would see their most affordable tools for advertising, logistics, and customer reach degraded or eliminated entirely, as the innovation that keeps those tools competitive and affordable gets chilled by regulatory uncertainty – driving up costs for themselves and the customers they serve.
“Congress was right to reject this framework before. Bringing it back practically unchanged puts American consumers, small businesses, and the economy at risk – and lawmakers must reject it again before that damage is done.”
