Washington, D.C. (11/19/2024) – Yesterday, Bloomberg reported that the Department of Justice (DOJ) plans to recommend extreme and aggressive remedies in the U.S. v. Google case, all of which appear specifically designed to break Google Search and give its business competitors a boost with dubious and unclear benefits for consumers.
“If accepted by the Court, the leaked proposed remedies that the Department of Justice is recommending would have a profound impact on every American, limiting technological innovations and hurting consumers. This is the result of a multi-year crusade by the DOJ that ignores consumer welfare and undermines American competitiveness. Consumers clearly prefer Google Search over its competitors, and the proposed remedies risk reducing the quality of internet search for all,” said Don’t Break What Works spokeswoman Chandler Smith Costello.
The Don’t Break What Works campaign has championed the products and services that benefit American consumers and pushed back on harmful policies designed to target a few American companies, to the detriment of American consumers.
