Don’t Break What Works Campaign Applauds the White House for Standing Up for Leading U.S. Companies Against Foreign Discrimination

Washington, D.C. (2/24/2025) – The Don’t Break What Works campaign released the following statement applauding the White House’s memorandum defending American companies and innovators from unfair foreign laws and regulations:

“In recent years, foreign nations have increasingly implemented discriminatory regulations, unfair fines, and other penalties targeting leading U.S. tech companies. These policies risk breaking digital products and services Americans love, put our nation’s economic interests at risk, and make it more difficult for U.S. companies to compete on the global stage. Concerningly, more and more nations have proposed discriminatory measures targeting leading American tech companies, and even some U.S. lawmakers have unwisely threatened to import similar regulations through legislation such as the American Innovation and Choice Online Act (AICOA) and the Open App Markets Act (OAMA),” said Kate Brown, spokeswoman for the Don’t Break What Works campaign

“We applaud the White House for pushing back against these kinds of discriminatory regulations, and we appreciate the administration’s clear stand against policies that threaten to put America’s economic and technological competitive advantage in jeopardy,” she continued.
