Washington, D.C. (02/11/2025) – The Don’t Break What Works campaign released the following statement ahead of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing to consider the nomination of Gail Slater to be the Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division:
“During the first Trump administration, Gail Slater demonstrated a strong commitment to long-standing antitrust principles designed to protect American consumers, innovation, and U.S. competitiveness,” said Kate Brown, spokeswoman for the Don’t Break What Works campaign. “American tech companies are essential in achieving these goals. Low-priced, free digital products and services provided by American tech companies have cut costs for millions of consumers, and the tech industry is responsible for the vast majority of investment in research and development that keeps our nation competitive on the global stage.”
“In contrast to actions targeting leading American tech companies that discouraged competition and put U.S. consumers and innovation in jeopardy, we hope that Mrs. Slater will help create a competitive economy that benefits all Americans,” Brown said.
