Don’t Break What Works Campaign Issues Statement on President Biden’s State of the Union Address

Washington, D.C. 2/07/2023 – CCIA’s “Don’t Break What Works” campaign released the following statement regarding President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address to Congress:

“President Biden is right that competition is critical to innovation and beneficial to the American consumer, but his attention on American companies that create some of Americans’ most-loved products is misdirected.

“Previous attempts by the President and Congress to exert their will on some of America’s most successful companies in the name of competition would in fact break products like free Google services and Amazon’s two-day shipping, both of which are extremely popular with consumers. We remain concerned that the President’s rhetoric tonight reaffirms commitment to those same, flawed policies.

“We encourage the administration to focus on the issues that are most pressing to American families and businesses rather than continuing to pursue an agenda that remains unpopular with American consumers,” said Chandler Smith Costello, a spokeswoman for the Don’t Break What Works campaign.
