Don’t Break What Works Issues Statement Ahead of DOJ Antitrust Trial on Google Search

Washington, D.C. – Today, the Don’t Break What Works campaign released the following statement as the Department of Justice (DOJ) and state attorneys’ antitrust lawsuit against Google Search begins today:

“The action the Department of Justice and state attorneys are taking is to the benefit of Google’s competitors, not consumers. While the government has yet to provide a clear vision for the remedy to their complaint, we do know that the DOJ’s success would result in fewer choices and a less competitive marketplace. The DOJ is putting politics ahead of consumers by going after Google, which is providing a quality product that many Americans prefer,” said Chandler Smith Costello, a spokeswoman for the Don’t Break What Works campaign.

The Don’t Break What Works campaign has championed the products and services that benefit American consumers and pushed back on harmful policies designed to target a few American companies, to the detriment of American consumers.
