New Ad Tells Congress: “Don’t Break What Works”

Washington, D.C. (01/18/2022) – Today, CCIA’s Don’t Break What Works campaign launched a major new ad campaign ahead of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s markup of S. 2992, legislation that could jeopardize the products and services that Americans and small businesses love, compromise data security, and disadvantage American companies to the benefit of Chinese competitors.

The new campaign starts with an ad highlighting the progress the United States, businesses and Americans have made through technology – progress that will be stalled if S. 2992 passes.

“American companies have led the world in the innovation and development of technology that we all know and love today. This ad highlights that progress and shows what’s at stake if S. 2992 becomes law. The Senate Judiciary Committee is fast tracking this bill to markup without thoughtful consideration of the unintended consequences that will impact every single American – and the United States’ standing on the world stage. Rather than rushing to mark up, the committee should consider the damaging effects of this bill and work through how to prevent them,” said Chandler Smith Costello, a spokeswoman for the Don’t Break What Works campaign.

The Don’t Break What Works campaign is powered by the Computer and Communications Industry Association (CCIA).
